💡 What Is the Clean Truck Check?
The Clean Truck Check is a California regulation that requires heavy-duty vehicles to pass periodic emissions tests to ensure their pollution control systems are working properly.
It applies to most diesel and alternative fuel vehicles over 14,000 lbs GVWR that operate on California roads — even if they’re registered out of state. This includes:
- Commercial trucks and personal vehicles
- Motorcoaches, transit, shuttle, and school buses
- Government vehicles (federal, state, local)
- Hybrid vehicles and single-vehicle fleets
- California-registered motorhomes
